Work experience

Work experience at Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals

Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (WHH) offers a range of work experience opportunities to help local students explore careers within the NHS.

Our ‘aspire to be…’ programmes provide hands-on experience, helping participants develop employability skills, grow in confidence, and gain insight into more than 350 potential NHS careers.

The Apprenticeship and Widening Participation Team works in partnership with the Cheshire and Warrington Pledge to organise career events, mock assessments, career carousels, and virtual projects, ensuring young people can learn more about the opportunities available within WHH.

Our work experience programmes
  1. Aspire to be a Doctor (Year 12 and 13): Designed for students aiming for Medical School. Applications reopen 3 March 2025 for two weeks. Fill in the form to get started.
  2. Aspire to be an Allied Health Professional (AHP) (Year 12 and 13): For those considering careers in physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, orthotics, radiography, operating department practice, or dietetics. Applications reopen in September 2025.

Successful participants will be considered for a face-to-face placement (1 to 5 days) at Halton Hospital or Warrington Hospital. Face-to-face placements are limited, and students must complete all programme elements to be eligible.

We do not offer placements for students under 16.
