Ward A9 - Acute medical

General introduction

Ward A9 is a 34-bed, acute general medical ward, with four bays of six patients, one bay of four patients and six cubicles.

The ward is located on the third floor of the Appleton Wing at Warrington Hospital.

How to access this service

Patients usually come directly to the ward following initial assessment and treatment in the Emergency Department or the Acute Medical Unit (AMU/Ward A1).

You may also be seen by one of our advanced practitioners who often have several years of experience within the NHS as nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and midwives within the clinical speciality. They apply their clinical skills and decision making to provide high level of knowledge and clinical care to our patients and their families.
