Ward A3 - Acute Cardiac Care Unit

General introduction

Ward A3, the Acute Cardiac Care Unit (ACCU), consists of 27 specialist cardiology beds, made up of eight high dependency beds (also known as high care) providing cardiac monitoring, plus 19 core cardiology beds providing care that is responsive to the needs and preferences of individual patients. 

The ACCU nursing and medical staff work extremely closely with the wider multidisciplinary team within the Trust, including the specialist acute cardiac and heart failure nurses.

How to access this service

Patients are referred via the Emergency Department, Cardiac Catheter Suite and via the Trust's cardiac specialist nurses and heart failure nurses.

About the team

ACCU endeavours to provide a total of seven nurses and three healthcare assistants on duty across the ward.
