Gynaecology One Stop Clinic

The Gynaecology One Stop Clinic is designed to provide care for patients experiencing abnormal vaginal bleeding. The clinic aims to offer patients a single visit appointment for assessment, diagnosis, and treatment.

Patients referred by their GP will be seen as soon as possible, often within two weeks, to investigate symptoms that may occasionally be linked to serious conditions such as cancer.

During the visit, patients will be seen by a gynaecologist and will have an ultrasound scan. Patients may also have other tests done, which could include any of the below:

•    an internal examination
•    a small sample (biopsy) taken from the lining of the womb
•    putting in or taking out a coil (IUCD)
•    having blood tests taken
•    using a tiny camera to inside your womb (hysteroscopy)

Some patients may be offered treatment on the same day, if appropriate. For example, this could include the removal of polyps. This can save time and means patients do not have to wait too long for treatment.
