Frailty Assessment Unit (FAU)

General introduction

The Frailty Assessment Unit (FAU) is a small unit of four beds that is designed to care for patients that can be discharged that day.

Patients with frailty syndromes are often admitted into an acute hospital bed with typical lengths of stay longer than 10 days. The purpose of FAU is to avoid admissions for our frail patients and return them to their own homes as quickly as possible. Outcomes are proven to be better when our frail patients are at home in a familiar environment.

The unit itself is fully air conditioned and has private rooms with a waiting area to ensure privacy when examinations are taking place.
