Cheshire and Merseyside Endoscopy Hub

General introduction

The Cheshire and Merseyside Endoscopy Hub provides diagnostics, surveillance and bowel cancer screening for patients across Cheshire and Merseyside.

The hub has four endoscopy rooms, each equipped with state-of-the-art technology and equipment, along with a recovery area that provides five additional beds.

The hub also provides alternative procedures such as:

•    trans-nasal endoscopy
•    capsule colonoscopy
•    cytosponge or ‘pill on a string’ procedure (Pill on a string uses a small capsule-shaped device which contains a tiny sponge that is swallowed by patients to collect cell samples. The procedure can be carried out quickly, without the need for sedation, and can replace the need for an endoscopy.)

These alternative procedures are all less invasive and have a faster recovery time for patients.
