The Cardio-Respiratory Department specialises in all aspects of cardiac and respiratory investigation and diagnosis.
We offer a wide range of invasive and non-invasive tests to investigate and diagnose heart and lung disease, as well as sleep disorders such as sleep apnoea. Some of the tests we provide include:
- electrocardiogram (ECG)
- echocardiograms (Echo)
- stress echocardiograms (Stress Echo)
- lung function studies
- spirometry
- sleep studies
- Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) services
- pulse oximeters
- exercise stress-testing
- ambulatory ECG monitoring
- ambulatory blood pressure monitoring
- coronary angiograms
- permanent pacemaker implantation
The Cardio-Respiratory Department works alongside the Trust's Cardiology and Respiratory services to provide diagnostic investigations to inpatients, outpatients and to patients referred from GPs.
The majority of our patients are adult, but we do also provide a service to support children’s (paediatric) care.
