WHH invites locals to join Council of Governors and help shape healthcare services
Published date: Tuesday 16 September 2025
Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking nominations from residents across Warrington and Halton to join the Council of Governors.
Hospital governors play an active part in driving improvements in healthcare, representing the diverse voice of local people and communities to support the Trust. Elections are now open, and this year there are four seats available within the Warrington and Halton constituency and one seat in the rest of England.
Being a governor provides an opportunity to be an ambassador for the Trust, to influence the future direction of your hospital and how services are developed and to share the local population’s views.
Sue Fitzpatrick, Lead Governor, said: “The role of a governor provides a fantastic opportunity to represent your community and help shape the Trust’s strategic direction. This is an exciting time to join us at WHH as we continue our journey to join forces with Bridgewater Community Healthcare to bring hospital and community services together. As governors’ we are extremely excited for the next steps in these developments and look forward to welcoming you.”
The Council of Governors is made up of 17 public governors, 5 staff governors and 5 partner governors, working together to hold the Trust’s non-executive directors to account for the performance of the Board.
To stand for election, members of the public must be aged 16 or over and be a member of Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. To find out more about the governor role and to obtain a nomination pack, visit the dedicated governor elections website. The deadline for completed nomination forms is 5pm on Thursday 9 October 2025.
WHH members are also invited to join the Annual Members’ Meeting on Wednesday 1 October 2025, 3.30pm to 4.30pm at the Lecture Theatre, Halton Education Centre, Halton Hospital, WA7 2DA. Governors will be hosting an information stand prior to the meeting from 2.30pm, to talk to any members contemplating submitting a nomination to become a governor.
Alongside the governor elections, the Trust is also inviting applications for a new chair of the Board. The chair will play a pivotal role in supporting the Trust to achieve its mission and goals while supporting our patients, staff and communities.
