Update on Cheshire and Merseyside Long COVID services

Service update: The current Long COVID service hub arrangements across Cheshire and Merseyside will end on 31 March 2025 following a significant drop in referrals. We understand this change may cause concern for those patients currently under the care of the service and all existing patients of this service have been informed to let them know what will happen next.

Although the Long COVID Services are no longer taking referrals GPs will be able to make referrals to alternative services for people with long COVID symptoms.

There are also a range of national support organisations which can be accessed through the following links:

Our commissioner NHS Cheshire and Merseyside is in the process of reviewing how support for long COVID is provided in the future. They want to find the most effective way of supporting people with long COVID, whilst making the best use of NHS resources. Part of the review will include exploring if long COVID support could integrate with other existing services that meet the needs of people with similar conditions.

As part of this review NHS Cheshire and Merseyside is looking to involve public, patients and staff to seek their views. To take part please visit the NHS Cheshire and Merseyside website to complete a questionnaire by Sunday 16 March 2025.

If you are a patient of the Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals Long COVID Service and have any questions, please contact the team before Friday 28 March 2025 by calling 01925 662813 or emailing whh.longcovidservice@nhs.net
