Celebrate your health hero with a WHH People’s Choice Award nomination

The WHH People's Choice Award is back for 2025!

Members of the public are once again invited to nominate staff and volunteers at Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals for a prestigious People’s Choice Award.

Returning for the second year, the special award provides an opportunity for members of the public to nominate someone who has gone the extra mile at Warrington and Halton Hospitals. The panel of judges want to hear your stories about a person, team, ward or department that has made a positive difference to your experience at the hospital during the past 12 months.

Last year, the dedicated Neonatal Unit Team were crowned the People’s Choice Award winner. The award celebrated the department for their work to provide support during the most precious yet challenging times that some families face. The nomination hailed the team as “amazing individuals”, recognising the high level of clinical care and specialist medical advice provided by the team to some of the most vulnerable and poorly babies.

Nominations for 2024-25 are now open and can be made by completing the nomination form.

The closing date for entries is Friday 17 January 2025.

This year winners will be honoured at the Trust’s annual Thank You Awards ceremony taking place at the Titanic Hotel, Liverpool on Friday 16 May. Along with the People’s Choice Award, 12 other trophies are set to be presented on the night including WHH Colleague of the Year for clinical and non-clinical staff.

The special People’s Choice Award is the only category that is available for public nomination.

Nikhil Khashu, Chief Executive of Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, said: “Our staff work hard day in day out to care for our community, and it is vitally important that we continue to recognise their incredible work. Our annual WHH Thank You Awards provide an important space for us to reflect and recognise the extraordinary achievements of our teams and shine a spotlight on those who deliver outstanding care, support, and innovative improvements to ensure the very best patient experience and outcomes.

“We were inundated with your nominations for the People’s Choice Award last year, making it an incredibly difficult decision to choose just one winner, so we are delighted to welcome it back for the second year running.

“We are appealing to readers of the Warrington Guardian/Runcorn and Widnes World to nominate staff and volunteers who have gone above and beyond for this special award. This could be anything from a simple act of kindness, compassion or something that highlights their dedication to duty.

“Any of our staff members or volunteers can be considered for the award and it doesn’t matter how you have received care. Your experience may have been during a routine appointment, inpatient stay, emergency visit or even while supporting another family member or friend in hospital. All nominations will be gratefully received and considered by our judging panel.”

Almost 300 members of staff and invited guests attended last year’s event, which is held at no cost to the NHS thanks in part to support from local businesses and corporate partners.

The Trust would also like to hear from local businesses that may be interested in supporting the event as a sponsor. For further enquiries email whh.thankyouawards@nhs.net or call 01925 662993.
