Our Scientist and Technician roles are often biology and chemistry related disciplines and are used mostly in healthcare laboratories to identify, research, monitor and treat diseases. Biomedical science specifically is one of the broadest areas of modern science, is constantly advancing, and underpins much of modern medicine.

According to government figures, biomedical scientists are central to the UK healthcare industry attributing to the health and wellbeing of the nation from cradle to the grave. Despite making up just 5% of the workforce 70% of all diagnoses are attributed to the work of biomedical scientists. Absolutely essential roles to delivering high quality and safe healthcare.

Its interesting work, focusing on the complexity of the human body, how cells, organs and systems function as well as investigation how disease and medicine affect them. If you have ever had a urine, blood, tissue or other sample taken by a doctor or nurse, chances are it will have been diagnosed by a biomedical scientist!

Undertaking over 5 million tests every year, everyone will use the services of biomedical scientists more than once during their lifetime.

These are critical roles and place high importance on lean processes to deliver results fast for the benefit of our patients. For example by utilising the lean processes within the department, Pathology can produce reports essential for the patient care in the fact timescale required by the requesting doctor.
