New mobile appointments app


The Trust has launched a new mobile app that allows patients to access hospital services via their smart phone, which will be available from Monday 31 July 2017; Micheckin is a self-check in application for hospital appointments. As a patient at Warrington and Halton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust you can choose to check-in via their mobile phone or the kiosks, which are positioned in the Outpatients and Orthopaedics department at Warrington (similar to that at GP practices). It is a safe, secure and confidential app, that once you have made an appointment at the hospital the mobile phone application allows you to;

  • Check-in for your appointment – Make your way to the waiting area for your pending appointment
  •  Change demographics e.g your address
  • View your appointments
  • Receive reminders about your due appointments
  • Receive alerts from us
  • Receive Surveys
  • Get information about your local hospital on your device, allowing you to see the address and contact details

The new app will be used in the main Outpatients department and Orthopaedic department in Appleton Wing on the Warrington site initially with plans to roll it out throughout the hospital. 

So how does it work? Patients can download the app by visiting www.micheckin.com, but they must have a smart phone to enable this service. This application allows self-check as soon as the patient arrives on the Warrington hospital site for their appointment in either Outpatients or Orthopaedics. The download is from the app store for Apple devices or Google Play for android devices and is completely free.

A patient can only download the mobile application if they have an active or future appointment.

Jan Ross, Interim chief operating officer explains why the Trust has introduced this new initiative; “We are delighted to be introducing the MiCheckin app and software at Warrington Outpatients Department.  This will allow our patients to check in and be seated without standing in a queue, making for a better outpatients experience.  We will also be using the application to send out appointment reminders and key messages in real time to allow our patients to manage their visits effectively”.
