About this Service
Our Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Service is provided by a team of Physiotherapists who are specialists in the treatment of muscles, joints, tendons and ligament problems. We provide assessment, treatment and management advice for clients presenting with a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions including:
- Neck and back pain
- Arthritis
- Joint pain
- Soft tissue injuries
- Sports Injuries
- Orthopaedic post-operative management
- Chronic muscular and skeletal conditions
- Rheumatology conditions
- Women's health problems including: pregnant and post natal musculoskeletal problems, female stress or urge incontinence
Our Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy team provide a range of services including:
- Manual therapy
- Electrotherapy
- Acupuncture (Please note that not all physiotherapists can give acupuncture)
- Hydrotherapy
- Education and self help programmes
- Active rehabilitation in the form of gym classes

Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy
Our Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy clinics are provided by one of our specialist physiotherapists on the following days, times and locations:
Runcorn:
- Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday: 8:30am - 4:00pm, at Halton Hospital
- Tuesday: 8:30am - 6:00pm, at Halton Hospital
- Monday - Wednesday: 9:00am - 12:00pm, at Murdishaw Health Centre Runcorn
- Monday, Wednesday and Friday: 8:30am - 4:00pm and Thursday 9:30am - 12:00pm at Castlefields Health Centre Runcorn
- Friday: 8:30am - 4:00pm, at Grove House Practice Runcorn
Widnes:
- Monday - Friday: 8:00am - 4:00pm, at Widnes Healthcare Resource Centre
- Thursday: 8:00 am – 5:30pm, at Widnes Healthcare Resource Centre
- Monday: 8:45am – 3:45pm, at Hough Green Health Park
- Monday: 1:40pm - 5:00pm, at West Bank Medical Centre
- Wednesday: 2:00pm - 5:00pm, at Beeches Medical Centre
- Tuesday: 8:40am – 5:00pm and Thursday 1:30pm to 3:45pm, at Beaconsfield Medical Centre
Our Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy service accepts referrals from GPs, consultants, nurses and midwives. Patients can also self-refer into the service by completing the referral form which can be accessed by clicking here.
Patients are eligible for referral into the Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy service if they meet the following criteria:
- have neck, back or other joint symptoms which may include discomfort or pain in joints or muscles
- have joint or muscle injuries
- are age 18 or over
