Warrington and Halton Hospitals

Patient information

When you come to the hospitals, you will receive patient information about treatments and conditions.

This is usually in the form of leaflets but can also be online information as well. Our aim is to make sure you have the information that you need to support your care, and decisions that you may need to make about treatments and procedures that we offer.

Before you have treatment, you will be asked for your consent. Good information plays a key part in the decision making and consent process.

Leaflets you might be provided with at the hospitals

We have a system for creating information at the hospitals that means that you can trust the information we give you. All of information goes through a thorough approval process.

We also use a system called EIDO. EIDO are a national organisation that create patient information on a wide range of common health conditions and treatments. If there is an EIDO leaflet about your condition then we will usually provide you with a copy of that. All of the information is approved to the standards we, and you, would expect.

You can access EIDO's public website with these information leaflets yourself to browse the information that they have available at the link below. Just search for a keyword.

If you have any queries about the information you have been given then please ask our staff who will be happy to help you.

Other useful sites for health information

There are lots of websites that provide health information out there on the internet. Something that tells you that the provider of information has good standards in place is that they are signed up to the Information Standard kitemark for information production. However, you need to be careful and use your common sense when accessing any health information on the internet.

A good site for basic information on a range of conditions and services is NHS Choices.

Your health professional looking after your care may direct you to other sources of information that they have recommended.
